Christopher Semple\">\n                            <\/a>\n            <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">La vitrectom\u00eda es la extirpaci\u00f3n quir\u00fargica del humor v\u00edtreo de la parte media del ojo. Puede realizarse cuando hay desprendimiento de retina, ya que la extracci\u00f3n del humor v\u00edtreo le permite al m\u00e9dico oftalm\u00f3logo acceder mejor a la parte posterior del ojo. El humor v\u00edtreo tambi\u00e9n puede extraerse si la sangre presente en el humor v\u00edtreo (hemorragia v\u00edtrea) no desaparece por s\u00ed sola.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Durante una vitrectom\u00eda, el cirujano introduce peque\u00f1os instrumentos en el ojo, corta el humor v\u00edtreo y lo succiona. Despu\u00e9s de retirar el humor v\u00edtreo, el cirujano puede tratar la retina con un l\u00e1ser (fotocoagulaci\u00f3n), cortar o eliminar tejido fibroso o cicatricial de la retina, aplanar \u00e1reas donde la retina se ha desprendido o reparar desgarros o agujeros en la retina o la m\u00e1cula.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Al final de la cirug\u00eda, se inyecta aceite de silicona o un gas en el ojo para reemplazar el gel v\u00edtreo y restablecer la presi\u00f3n normal en el ojo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">La vitrectom\u00eda siempre la realiza un oftalm\u00f3logo con formaci\u00f3n especial en el tratamiento de problemas de la retina.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Qu\u00e9 esperar despu\u00e9s de la cirug\u00eda<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> La vitrectom\u00eda puede requerir una noche de hospitalizaci\u00f3n, pero a veces puede realizarse como cirug\u00eda ambulatoria. La cirug\u00eda dura de 2 a 3 horas.
