Back to School: 3 Ways Premier Medical Can Get the Kids Ready for School
Starting back-to-school can be both an exciting and stressful time. For parents, starting a new school year is a great time to check up on your child’s health and make sure they are protected against childhood illnesses.
Here are three ways Premier Medical can help get the kids ready for a great school year:
Eye Exam
Your child’s eyes are responsible for 80 percent of everything they will learn this year. This is why it is so important that children have a comprehensive eye exam annually. During a comprehensive eye exam, one of our optometrists will look at the overall health of your child’s eyes. The exam will look at how their eyes work together and whether their eyes are focusing correctly. It will also check their depth perception, color and peripheral vision, the health of the pupil and distance viewing.
Hearing Test
Hearing plays an important role in your child’s ability to learn and undetected hearing loss can greatly affect your child’s ability to succeed in the classroom. To ensure your child is properly developing speech and language, schedule a routine hearing test with one of our audiologists.
Allergy Testing
Does your child have asthma or allergies? Not knowing can be dangerous when they start back to school. According to the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (ACAAI), about 10 million kids under the age of 18 have asthma, 11 percent have respiratory allergies and 6 percent have food allergies. If you suspect your child may have allergies, make an appointment to for an allergy test. Premier Medical offers both a skin and blood test.
