Job Opening: Audiology Technician
Part time days.
SUMMARY OF JOB:
The Audiology Technician is responsible for assisting the audiologist as well as being responsible for answering the telephone and scheduling appointments for the department.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Accountability: Reports directly to the Director of Audiology or Supervisor of Audiology.
Education or Training: College degree preferred but not required.
Knowledge and Experience: Requires the ability to learn new skills.
Dexterity: Must have good manual dexterity for examining patients and operating equipment. Must be able to function in an office setting.
Accuracy: Must be able to transcribe information received from patients, including insurance coverage, social security and telephone numbers without error.
Physical Activity: Physical activity involves keying, writing, reaching, carrying, looking, listening, talking, bending, lifting, standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, climbing, grasping and much sitting, resulting in heavy work.
Exertion Requirements: Heavy – exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally
and 20 to 50 pounds of force frequently and 10 to 20 pounds of force regularly
to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. Must be able to walk, stand or sit to
a significant degree depending on task requirements.
Working Conditions: Works in an office setting, which is well-lighted, ventilated
and temperature regulated. Automobile travel may be required.
Must be able to concentrate on work tasks amidst distractions, such as noise, conversations and foot traffic.
Must be able to work in a confined area performing repetitive work for extended periods of time.
Hazards or Risks: In office minimal.
Worker Characteristics: Must have responsible, ethical and professional manner with the
ability to listen, learn, plan and organize. Must be able to communicate effectively with people of different races, sexes, ages and social classes.
Non-performance Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile liability insurance and a Social Security card or work permit.
